V1. First I got married that was good for a start
But then my woman left me and my world fell apart
Before the wedding everything was fine
'cause everything I had was mine
V2. But when the honeymoon was over as they say
My life became a tragedy play
'cause I gave her my money and I gave her my pride
And so she became my place to hide
A. In the middle of the afternoon
I'd come home to school
She was a lovely girl
I was a fool
SOLO
V3. Well, I was making money 'cause I had a good job
She said 'that work is only fit for a slob'
And so I left the payroll on the very next day
And that was my last mistake
B. Twelve days have passed
My life has shattered like glass
V4. TWELVE DAYS AGO I was a man of pride
I didn't have a thing to hide
TWELVE DAYS AGO I wasn't quite so strange
I didn't have these pains inside
