He sat in his room and he cried
Because of the cost
His savings were gone and he lost
YES HE DID
And he couldn't think of the days
He thought they were gone
He saved all that money so long
YES HE DID
He should have been happy that now he is free from his greed
He wondered then what he could call his own
His greed was his life was his life and so happiness he'd never known
He should have been happy that now he is free from his greed
He should have been happy it was money that he didn't need

He thought of the time he had lost
Because of the thought
That money was all that he'd want
'Cause he did
He could have lived a good life
If he took the time
But he wouldn't give up a dime
Now he did
He should have been happy that now he was free from his greed
He thought of all life and and wondered if he played his part
And then he could see that he had just come to the start
He can be happy that now he is free from his greed
He can be happy it was money that he didn't need

And now he's got a job
He's got all it takes
He's learned to spend what he makes
YES HE DID
YES HE DID
