COUNTY
_____MAGAZINE

NEW ROCK TALENT.

As part of its continuing interest in rock music, ORANGE COUNTY Magazine takes a look in this issue at "The Kats" a group many industry insiders are keeping their eyes on. Patty Keopp filed this exclusive report.

With new groups springing into the music industry limelight almost daily, it is not surprising that fresh talent is often found in local clubs around Orange and Los Angeles Counties. An example of this is The Kats who are already working on their first album. Hardly a household word--they have a strong following among dedicated fans who love fresh, creative rock and roll.

The Kats love their music...and so, it seems, do Orange County audiences. Under Freddy Moore's leadership, they release a united energy that numbs the senses.

At first glance audiences expect a punk rock sound, but instead, they are treated to clean, uncomplicated rock and roll with a touch of bebop jazz thrown in.

On stage The Kats are simply their own crazy selves, amplified at least ten times. Freddy Moore prowls the stage like an alley cat...cool, but not too controlled. Bobbyzio Moore, Freddy's brother, must have been born with a sax in his mouth, and Dennis Peters' bass and Pete McRae's guitar show pure talent and an almost uncanny sense of timing.

The Kats are now working on their first album, but the name of the band may change before it even hits the market. (Due to another band having the name "Cats").

But, don't worry, The Kats' fresh, energetic rock and roll will remain no matter what name they use.
