These are basically the demo tapes of the psuedo rock opera: 'The Kats'. The lyrics form a picture of the everyday life of the suburban high schooler: "Freddy", who daydreams of getting out of the suburbs and becoming a Sunset Strip musician (in other words 'one of the cats').
Even though the psuedo rock opera never happened, when guitar-hero Pete McRae replaced Mark Goldstein, the band - 'The Kats' did make it big down on Sunset Strip!
