Lord Lord Lord why can't you set them free?
Lord Lord Lord What FOOLS THESE MORTALS BE
For some time now
I've been watching them work
Trying to get myself a clue
Lord Lord Lord why can't you set them free?
Lord Lord Lord What FOOLS THESE MORTALS BE

He's living alone and he lays about thinking
"What kind of woman could I attract -
If I was driving a Lincoln?"
"What kind of woman could I get
If I drove a German machine?"
"What kind of woman could I get
If I kept my bedroom clean?"

And meanwhile she's all alone
Lives in a house that's not a home
She's waiting on Prince Charming
To sweep her away

When they finally get together
They decide on a date
And a couple of years later
They decide to separate

There he sits on his proverbial throne
He may have money but still he's alone
He's got everything he needs in life
But still he thinks he needs a wife

He'll search and search until he can find
A woman he thinks is truly his kind
But late a night when they stay at home
He gets the urge to run and roam
Lord, what fools these mortals be
